ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha (ZZ9) is the Official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Appreciation Society. We are a group of people who share an interest in, or appreciation of, the works of Douglas Noel Adams, especially the aforementioned trilogy in five parts, and enjoy the companionship of like minded individuals.

We produce an A4 quarterly newsletter, Mostly Harmless, which is written by and for our members. ZZ9 picked that title back in 1980 and it is so good that Douglas Adams later published a book with the same name. The average edition includes: interviews; news; reviews; reports; competitions; artwork all with an Adamsian theme which includes the 'Dirk Gently' books and Last Chance to See.

ZZ9 organised events are listed on the ZZ9 Diary, and we also have the Hitchhiker's Diary of publications / events of interest to all Hitchhiker fans.

We also provide a Hitchhiker's News service via the Livejournal, that can be accessed as an RSS or ATOM feed.

We sell Guide-related merchandise to members, and at conventions.
ZZ9ers can also join our closed email list (aka the bounce), contact the publicity officer with your membership number if you wish to be added.

You can contact individual committee members if you want to find out more.

7 Jul. 2005   Following the incidents in London today, we want to emphasise that the Beeblebears' Picnic on Saturday is still on. The Meetings Organiser, Douglas Spencer, writes the following:
For reasons connected with bloodymindedness and an intention not to give the terrorists what they want, I'm most reluctant to cancel the picnic at this stage. If the police instruction not to make unnecessary journeys is no longer in force by Saturday, I'd like to see the picnic continue.
